a lien

Untitled

it had a claim on us

and we owned it

although the form was familiar

it brought us a new perspective

sometimes it was frightening

especially now that we know more

but we still have control

or so it seems

one hundred and eighty

thousand times

we said

/iloveyou/

we said it to the water

and to the moon

without thinking

we still owed

all of the things

that were forgotten

(and remembered)

still

the reward came

from an estranged place

and we owned it

yet it had a claim on us

a lien on our soul.
